Finally...

Here it is...finally...I've been working on this for a looooonnng time! I think my hard work paid off. I'm very pleased with this painting. This is my son Ashton at the beach building a sand castle...a 9x12 oil which has seen it's ups and downs. This is my third figure painting and I feel good because it looks like my son. You will look at it and say "hey, that's him!" I guess that's what you try to accomplish when you paint a figure. Especially someone so important to you.

However, that is not what I'm so proud of...for those who know me...can you guess???

That's right...the clouds! Are they perfect? No, not really, but they are definitely my BEST. BY FAR! Most importantly, I feel I've overcome my fear of painting clouds. I felt confident painting them and that is something I have NOT been able to do.

With me, every figure I've painted I get to a level of frustration...frustration that it won't look like them...frustration the clothes won't look like fabric...etc...OMG the legs on this one...I painted the bathing suit and legs over and over and over and over...probably 10 times! No exaggeration. I'm happy with them now!

I have photographed this painting in stages and If I can find them all I will post them and create a little step by step description of this piece.

Thanks to Robin for being very patient with me on another painting. This would not be the end result without her help and guidance. Thank you. Hope you like!

(BTW...NO I do not have a name for it yet and today my son saw this painting...he loved it, but said he loved my winter creek painting more! Which I just realized is not posted on this blog-stay tuned)
